As part of WildCRU’s long-term collaboration with Dr Tiit Maran of the Estonian University of Life Science and Tallinn Zoological Gardens, Lauren Harrington and colleagues explore the post-release movements of captive-bred European mink released on Hiiumaa Island, Estonia, and highlight some of the difficulties of monitoring reintroductions of small elusive carnivores. European mink are thought likely to be the next mammalian extinction unless effective conservation strategies are put in place. The reintroduction project is on-going in Estonia and Spain.
